Lokasi perancangan berada di komplek rumah keluarga, dengan tapak yang akan didesain berbentuk “kantong”. Secar garis besar terdapat dua gubahan masa eksisting, yang pertama adalah garasi mobil, serta rumah tinggal di area belakang yang usianya sudah cukup tua. Khawatir dengan kondisi kekuatan rumah tersebut, klien kami berinisiatif untuk melakukan perubahan secara total pada bentuk maupun fungsi rumah tersebut. Awalnya, sebelum muncul keputusan untuk membuat fungsi homestay ini, Bapak Munir sebenarnya ingin agar komplek rumah tersebut dapat kembali ramai, mengingat saat ini hanya tinggal Ibu beliau dan saudaranya yang menghuni rumah induk di sisi depan. Dia ingin membuat beberapa ruang atau kamar-kamar untuk anaknya atau kerabat yang datang berkunjung. Namun karena intensitas penggunaan tersebut dirasa tidak sering dan rumah induk didepan sudah cukup besar, sehingga Bapak Munir terfikir untuk memilih fungsi homestay sebagai alternatif yang diambil. Selain disatu sisi lebih produktif, di sisi lain tujuan awal agar suasana menjadi ramai justru dapat terwujud secara bersamaan.
The design location is in a family home complex, with the site to be designed in the form of a “pocket”. Broadly speaking, there are two compositions of the existing period, the first is a car garage, and a house in the back area that is quite old. Worried about the condition of the strength of the house, our client took the initiative to make a total change in the form and function of the house. Initially, before the decision was made to make this homestay function, Mr. Munir actually wanted the house complex to be busy again, considering that currently only his mother and brother live in the main house on the front side. He wants to make some rooms or rooms for his children or relatives who come to visit. However, because the intensity of the use was felt to be infrequent and the main house in front was quite large, so Mr. Munir thought about choosing a homestay function as an alternative. In addition to being more productive on the one hand, on the other hand, the initial goal of making the atmosphere more lively can actually be realized simultaneously.
Kemudian, setelah kami menentukan potensi yang ada pada site, kami memulai untuk menentukan program ruang. Secara garis besar zona kami bagi menjadi dua bagian, zona komunal yang sifatnya lebih public / terbuka, dan zona privat / area tinggal. Garasi eksisting yang berada di area paling depan kami pertahankan posisinya, hanya bentukan fasad serta interiornya yang kami rubah agar dapat menyesuaikan dengan konsep desain yang baru. Kami membuat agar gubahan garasi ini dapat menjadi point of interest sehingga orang akan langsung aware dengan kehadiran Ndalem Gedongkuning. Secara fungsi kami juga sepakat untuk memodifikasi yg awalnya hanya garasi, kemudian dapat fleksibel dijadikan sebagai showroom mobil VW. Di sisi sampingnya terdapat jalur gang kecil yang dapat digunakan sebagai entrance. Lorong tersebut kami desain agar terkesan tidak sempit dan gelap dengan memberi lampu-lampu kecil dibagian atasnya, serta guide lamp untuk memandu arah jalan yg diletakkan diarea bawah dinding. Di sisi belakang garasi terdapat ruang transisi yang juga dapat berfungsi sebagai area display Vespa. Ruang komunal yang terakhir adalah dapur bersama yang dilengkapi dengan mushallah serta toilet. Dapur komunal tersebut kami tinggikan elevasinya agar eksistensinya menjadi lebih terasa. Di sekelilingnya kami berikan kolam kecil agar juga timbul kesan terapung yang elegan.
Then, after we determine the potential that exists on the site, we begin to determine the space program. Broadly speaking, our zone is divided into two parts, the communal zone which is more public / open, and the private zone / living area. We have maintained the existing garage which is in the front area, only the facade and interior are changed to suit the new design concept. We made this garage composition a point of interest so that people would immediately be aware of the presence of Ndalem Gedongkuning. Functionally, we also agreed to modify what was originally only a garage, then it could be flexible as a VW showroom. On the side there is a small alley that can be used as an entrance. We designed the hallway so that it doesn’t seem narrow and dark by giving small lights at the top, as well as guide lamps to guide the direction of the road which is placed under the wall. On the back side of the garage there is a transition room that can also function as a Vespa display area. The last communal room is a shared kitchen which is equipped with a prayer room and toilet. We raise the communal kitchen in elevation so that its existence becomes more pronounced. Around it we provide a small pool so that it also creates an elegant floating impression.
